Pull up your Youtube braid tutorials this season, as you'll need to sharpen your skills for 2018. Braids of all kinds hit the runway (including four-strand and fishtail). The coolest way to wear the trend? A long, low, and loose fishtail, inspired by the one seen at the Chanel Hamburg pre-fall show. Accent it with a glamorous accessory fastened at the nape.
At Rihanna’s 2018 spring Fenty Puma show, models walked the motocross-inspired runway with their ponytails twined with neon string. Twinned into sections and tied at sporadically, the string created beautiful random bubbled sections along the length of the tail. "Yusef—Rihanna’s 'hair artist'—calls this look 'athletic cool, bad girl, graphic with a little bit of edge' hair.
To add to the braid, try the retro scrunchie made a return to the runways this season at the Mansur Gavriel show. The 2018 version should be worn and fastened with purpose and done in a luxe finish like silk or velvet. Top backstage hair guru Adam Reed says 'To keep it looking modern, avoid having a massive scrunchie,' Go for a style that's simple like a really smooth, really sleek, low pony and secure it with a scrunchie. Keep the colour plain - nothing patterned or metallic!'
Some of the hot make-up trends were seen at Tory Burch. Models struted with smudgy brown liner rimmed all the way around the eyes, paired with a light nude lipstick.
Diane Kendal, Make-up artist for Alexander Wang, created looks for the models that were healthy and fresh. A palette of peachy liquid blush were seen across the entire cheekbone, a simple clean lip balm swiped across lips, and a sparkly highlighter brushed across the eyelids for a soft, subtle glow.
